Louella Albee Presentation

VNWC  Members and board attended  October’s  Venice Area Historical Society presentation  by Tom Bowers  on Louella Albee, the foundress of the Venice Nokomis Woman’s Club back in 1926.

Tom had a rousing slide show of how Louella was not only the life partner in all of Dr Fred Albee’s work, but a force of nature in her own right, notably establishing the Venice Library, along with the Venice Nokomis Woman’s Club, who’ll be celebrating 100 years of service to the Venice community in 2026.   Her legacy continues to this day, as our Club acknowledges her accomplishments, namely by the very generous donation the VNWC made to building the new Jervey Library’s children’s section, teen area and creation station…

One of the highlights of the evening was Mr. Curt Albee Vannah, (left in photo) who’s grandmother was Dr. Fred’s sister, and when introduced, said a few words about his famous family.  The speaker, Tom Bowers is to the right in photo.
